Thank you Mr Kucinich for making this motion. We waited for you and now our time is here although there is only 225 days left thats 225 days of more pain, suffering and crime.
First, off I would like to congratulate Barack Obama on clenching the nomination. I would like to thank all who supported him. NOW LETS UNITE THE PARTY AND WHIP JOHN MCCAIN”S A^$.
Second, I express my sympathy to those Hillary supporters for your loss. I ask you to unite and support Barack Obama just as hillary Clinton will endorse Barack on Saturday.
Third, I thank all of the superdelegates who came out on Tuesday night. We need to campaign hard to get a democrat elected.
Fourth, on a much deeper note I would like to condemn the Guantanamo Tribunal for allowing a trial for the five terrorist who helped plan 9/11. These men do not deserve a trial, they do not deserve to get there wish of being martyred. They deserve to sit in a cell for 24 hours a day and be able to reflect on the 2900 or so deaths they caused. They deserve to rot in these cells not be put to death as they wish. They do not deserve the American justice system, they deserve the ultimate justice from God. LET THEM ROT. (These crime had no need to start a war yet these men deserve to rot)
This is a video I found that sums up why we shouldn’t vote McCain. He is unstable and he is old time Washington. Please mind the language of the video because you may find it offensive.
According to Barack Obama’s official website the campaign is less that 50 DELEGATES AWAY FROM THE NOMINATION!!! Barack now has 1977 total delegates (317.5 being superdelegaates) while Hillaryuonly has 1782 total delegates (282.5 being superdelegates). This information has yet been confirmed by CNN but it will be in a matter of time. All we need is 49 more delegates. BARACK THE VOTE.
WE CAN DO IT!!!
LETS DESTROY JOHN MCCAIN, THE REPUBLICANS, and OLD TIME WASHINGTON!!!
According to the latest CNN estimate BARACK OBAMA is ONLY 126 DELEGATES FROM THE NOMINATION. The numbers stand as follows: Barack Obama 1899 total delegates (1608 elected delegates and 291 superdelegates) and Hillary Clinton 1445 total delegates (1445 total delegates 274 super delegates).
Its seems her time as a candidate is coming to its end. Our hard work has almost paid off. ONLY 126 more to go.
Yesterday all her troubles seemed so far away when she had a delegate lead and when she was “the nominee” but now her trouble is here to stay. The delegate count is now at Barack Obama with 1876 total delegates (1,594 pledged delegates and 282 superdelegates) and Hillary Clinton with 1703 total delegates (1430 pledged delegates and 273 superdelegates). She must really be longing for yesterday.
Today, the Burmese government started allowing US aide into the country to help the cyclone victims. Although the government is accepting this aide many of the food is being seized by the military. The people of Myanmar need help. I say if the regime is going to take the supplies provided for the PEOPLE we should stop our aide and present an ultimatum. These people are dying. We need to make a statement, the people need help but if there not going to get it once we turn our supplies over to the Burmese regime we should stop our efforts. We are working to help the PEOPLE NOT THE REGIME.
On a lighter note Barack Obama picked up 7 superdelegates, including one who had defected from Clinton. The delegate count is now: Barack Obama 1860 Total Delegates (1592 elected delegates and 268 superdelegates) and Hillary Clinton 1696 Total Delegates (1424 elected delegates and 272 superdelegates) While Clinton is still pursuing the nomination many are calling her out and saying she done with including AL Sharpton and Tim Russert. This is what Tim Russert said the other day:
Even John McCain has stopped his attacks on Hillary and continuously attacks Obama although he said he WOULD NOT run a negative campaign. A new website was set up by the RNC against Obama. I believe McCain set it up but put the blame on the RNC so he could get away with his lies. Is this what we’ve come to. They’re afraid of Obama. They know he’s going to win. Chickens.
Hanks, who endorsed Obama through his Myspace page said earlier “I want Barack Obama to be president of this country, a country that once said people with his skin color were only three-fifths of a human being.” This video was posted on Hank’s Myspace.
Obama also picked up 9 delegates while Hillary picked up 3 delegates. As of Monday, May 5th the delegate count stands with Obama having 1745 total delegates (1493 elected delegates and 252 superdelegates) and Clinton having 1602 total delegates (1336 elected delegates and 266 superdelegates. Obama now leads by 143 total delegates and has closed the super delegate gap to 14.
The latest CNN Poll of Polls (asking Likely Democratic primary voters’ choice) gave Obama 47% and Clinton 43% with 10% unsure.
Today it became official that Barack Obama won yesterdays Guam Caucus by only 7 votes. The 4 elected delegates from Guam were split between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. According to the most recent CNN estimate Barack now has 1736 total delegates (1493 pledged delegates and 243 superdelegates) and Hillary has 1599 total delegates (1334 pledged delegates and 265 superdelegates). Hillary trails by a total of 137 delegates as of SUnday May 4th 2008. Meanwhile Democrats Sunday cheered a weekend special election in Louisiana, where a Democratic congressional candidate won a seat that has been held by Republicans for decades. Democratic State Rep. Don Cazayoux beat Republican Woody Jenkins in the state’s 6th Congressional District on Saturday, with Cazayoux winning 49 percent of the vote to Jenkins’ 46 percent.
Yesterday, April 8th, 2008, General David Petraeus- the top Commander on the ground in Iraq answered questions in hearings in front of Congress. All three candidates for president return to their day job to question the General. All of their questions were rough yet they tried to keep out their political beliefs.
The point of this post was not to talk about this hearing but to talk about this failed war. This war has been going on for 5 years and over 4000 soldiers have died.
Was there a point in invading Iraq?
No there wasn’t all Bush did was attempt political gain. It’s made it worse. He was also out to get oil rich lands in Iraq but he didn’t realize that oil prices have risen $40-$50 in the past 5 years. It was a total failure – get us out of there! We need to have slow pullout, at least one combat brigade a month, no matter what the situation is because it is not our problem it’s Iraq’s problem, they have to solve it. The troops should have been put in Afghanistan to catch Bin Laden who is still hiding in the mountains of Afghanistan.
Today, after months in debate and in commitee Mayor Bloomberg’s congestion pricing plan was flushed. Debates had gone on about how much to charge, how to collect the charges, and the are where you would be charged. After these months spent a special comitee looked at the plan and said ok. Last week City COunsil voted for the plan and the plan was sent to Albany. The plan did not even make it out of the state assembly and was publicly stated that Senate Democrats would not vote for it. It had been sitting in the toilet fermenting and was finally flushed today- the deadline to receive federal funding.
Bloomberg’s attempts to make this plan real proved futile. But after all what was the plan in the first place. The plan would have charged drivers $8 to enter a congestion zone in Manhattan south of 60th Street during peak hours. Mr. Bloomberg and his supporters, including civic, labor and environmental organizations, viewed the proposal as a bold and essential step to help manage the city’s inexorable growth. The plan’s collapse was a severe blow to Mr. Bloomberg’s environmental agenda and political legacy. The mayor introduced his plan a year ago as the signature proposal of a 127-item program for sustainable city growth that helped raise his national profile. Without approval from Albany, the city now stands to lose about $354 million worth of federal money that would have financed the system for collecting the fee and helped to pay for new bus routes and other traffic mitigation measures.
Yes I agree congestion pricing would have been a very good move for New York City toward a better environment but it does not seem like it will be put on the table anytime soon. New York now has to work toward other goals to restoring its blue skies, clean air, and a more livable enviroment for our future. Please, I ask you to write (email is more eco-friendly) your representatives and state your case of disgust and anger towards them for not approving this plan for a better future. Do not take this as a call to arm or violence instead take it as a call to peaceful action.
Today, President Bush met with Russian President Putin. They talked about a missile defense system in Europe but were unable to come to terms about it. Ever since the end of WW2 America and Russia have not gotten along well. Is this so called ally worth our time, effort, and money. Personally I don’t see so. It has been a complete waste. We’ve known it all along too. This money could have been placed elsewhere. Calling upon all those that waste this time and money please stop. America has gotten stuck in a good/bad relationship. We are “stuck in a moment” and the country “can’t get out of it.” Our economies are now tied yet we still have disputes with Russia. After the technological advances of the Cold War either country can ultimately doom one another. Both countries can use the nuclear option or start another cold war or WW3. Plus Russia has many more allies than the US . they could blow us to bits with the help of China, Iran, North Korea, etc. We need to put these resource elsewhere likes health care or global warming and stop digging our hole deeper.
Bush also met with Russia’s president elect who will be Putin’s puppet. What a waste.
Let’s return to our old ways? Let’s be an America that works for us, ITS CITIZENS!!!
Yesterday, we remembered, for the 40th time, Martin Luther King’s death. Bono, the singer for U2, even wrote a song about it.
“Early morning April 4
Shot ring out in the Memphis sky
Free at last they took your life,
they could not take your pride”
Martin Luther had a dream and he was proud of what America had achieved when his life was taken from him; but, he knew that there was still a lot to do. He left that dream with us and set us out on the mission he had: to achieve social, economic, and racial equality.
Have we lived up to this mission?
I personally think we have forgotten that mission – one that every person: black, white, hispanic, asian and everyone else should come back to. Yes, I agree we have achieved a lot since Dr. King but we need to keep his and make it our mission.
This is evident in the race for the White House. We have two historical candidates on the Democrat side: Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Yet, on the Republican side, we have John McCain who, 25 years ago, voted against the idea of having a federal holiday in Martin Luther King’s name. Those who were born before Dr. King and lived in his era must be forgiven for they don’t know any better. But we the young generation must work to stop and solve these injustices without resorting to violence, instead acting in peace and love as Dr. King did.
Dr. King may have been freed from these injustices but he never lost hope and he leaves that hope and dream with us. A dream we all should have and a dream we must act upon.
Please take a look at these lyrics so that you can understand the era and where Dr. King came from:
“One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One come he to justify
One man to overthrow
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed on an empty beach.
One man betrayed with a kiss
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
(nobody like you…)
Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love…”
